Cookie-Based Tracking

JustAffiliate relies on cookies to track user activity. When a user clicks on an affiliate's link, a cookie is placed in their browser. This cookie contains information about the affiliate, the campaign, and sometimes other parameters like the click time. Attribution Window: The cookie has a lifespan, also known as the attribution window, of 30 days. This means that any conversion made within 30 days of the click will be attributed to the affiliate who generated the click.

Last Click Attribution

By default, JustAffiliate uses a "last click" attribution model. This means that the affiliate who generated the last click before the conversion will receive the credit. If multiple affiliates refer the same user, the one who influenced the user most recently (i.e., whose link was clicked last) will be credited with the conversion.

Conversion Type

JustAffiliate will exclusively track successful payment completions as the sole conversion type.

Real-Time Reporting

Real-Time Data: Affiliates and merchants can see real-time data on clicks, conversions, and earnings, with the attribution being updated accordingly.

Questions

1. What happens if a user browses in incognito mode or deletes their cookies? If a user browses in incognito mode or deletes their cookies, JustAffiliate may not be able to track their activity. Incognito mode automatically deletes cookies when the session ends, and manually deleting cookies removes tracking data. As a result, any conversions (such as successful payment completions) that occur after the cookies are deleted might not be attributed to the affiliate who referred the user, potentially leading to lost commissions for that affiliate.

2. What happens if two different affiliates' links are clicked by the same user? If a user clicks on links from two different affiliates before making a purchase, JustAffiliate typically uses a "last click" attribution model. This means that the affiliate whose link was clicked last before the conversion (successful payment) will receive credit for the sale. The first affiliate's contribution won't be credited in this case, as the most recent interaction is prioritized.

3. Can JustAffiliate still track conversions if cookies are blocked or deleted? JustAffiliate primarily relies on cookies for tracking, so if cookies are blocked or deleted, it may not be able to track user activity or attribute conversions accurately. However, some merchants may implement additional tracking methods, such as server-side tracking, to serve as a fallback. These methods can help capture conversions even when cookies are not available, though their effectiveness depends on the specific setup and integration used by the merchant.

4. Can JustAffiliate track conversions across different devices? No, JustAffiliate cannot reliably track conversions across different devices. Since it primarily relies on cookies stored in a user's browser, if a user switches devices (e.g., from a phone to a computer), the tracking data from the initial device won't carry over to the new one. This means that any conversion (like a successful payment) completed on a different device may not be attributed to the original affiliate who referred the user.

5. How can I test conversions in JustAffiliate? To test conversions in JustAffiliate, you can perform real-time testing by contacting JustDataPlease to provide you with a coupon. This allows you to complete a live transaction, ensuring that conversion tracking is functioning correctly.
